The striking deep blue of a quality sapphire is reminiscent of a cloudless night sky. Ancient civilizations believed that the world was set upon an enormous sapphire, which painted the sky blue with its reflection. This legend, as well as the belief that the ten commandments were inscribed upon tablets made of sapphire, gives September’s birthstone a royal place among gemstones.
Named after the Greek word "sapphirus", meaning blue, Sapphires have long been a favorite among priests and kings, who considered them symbolic of wisdom and purity. These gemstones are prominent among the British Crown Jewels, and Prince Charles chose this as the engagement stone for his fiancée, Princess Diana.
In ancient times, Sapphires were thought to be protective against envy, and even against poisoning. A common belief was that a venomous snake placed in a Sapphire vessel would rapidly die! Ground to a powder, the blue stone was believed to cure colic, rheumatism and mental illness, and to strengthen eyesight.
The Sapphire is second only to the Diamond in hardness, making it a durable gemstone for setting into jewelry. A gift of Sapphire represents sincerity and faithfulness. As nourishing to the soul as gazing up at the sky on a summer day, this brilliant blue gemstone is truly a heavenly choice!

The Value of You
One song can spark a moment;
One kiss can wake a dream;
One tree can start a forest;
One bird can herald spring;
One smile begins a friendship;
One touch can lift a soul;
One star can guide a ship at sea;
One word can frame the goal;
One vote can change a nation;
One sunbeam lights a room;
One candle wipes out darkness;
One laugh can conquer gloom;
One step can start a journey;
One word starts a prayer;
One hope can raise our spirits;
One thought can show you care;
One voice can speak with wisdom;
One heart can know what's true;
One life CAN make a difference;
You see-its up to you!

June Birthstones
The traditional birthstone for June is the Pearl and the month symbolizes Health and Longevity!
Pearls evolve layer by layer in the matrix of living sea creatures. Pearl is understood to bring about greater purity, honesty, innocence and integrity. The Pearl helps us to concentrate, focuses our energy, and is therefore very useful in prayer and meditation.
June has two alternate birthstones. The first is Moonstone, a type of feldspar named because of its uncanny resemblance to the iridescent sheen of the moon. Varying in color from clear to blue-white or peach, it was considered by ancient civilizations to be a sacred stone, bestowing the wearer with great spiritual understanding. Some believed that the Moonstone could even make a person invisible! Mined in Sri Lanka, Brazil, India, Madagascar, and the United States, a gift of this stone is symbolic of health and longevity.
The second alternate birthstone for June is the Alexandrite. A yellowish or brownish green in color, this gemstone has the unique characteristic of changing color to a red hue when exposed to a glowing light source, such as candlelight. Because of this quality, it has been characterized by poets as "an emerald by day, a ruby by night." Alexandrite was first discovered in Urals in 1830 but is mined today primarily in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Burma, Madagascar and Tanzania. It is a rare and expensive gemstone, symbolic of joy and good fortune.
AuraStella has some moonstone pieces called LeFleur. Check them out on our website at www.time4slvr.com
